This Week at The Remmers

So we're starting something new...Sunday night updates to our web page! Always trying to find creative ways to keep in touch. :o)

So as usual, we had a busy week. Last Sunday, the whole family went to the theatre for One Act auditions. Margie is producing LTA's annual One Act festival again this year, and she corralled Dan into helping at the audition table (welcoming auditioners, providing them with forms to fill out, etc.), We had a great night and were able to successfully cast both shows. If you're local, be sure to mark your calendars for May 15 & 16 for an evening of free theatre. We've got two good winners this year (though they are NOT for children).

Lyn's piano teacher was out of town, so no lesson on Tuesday.

On Wednesday, we had an especially busy day. Margie picked up the kids from school (she is now picking up the kids every day except Monday--that gives them an extra hour to do homework, practice piano, and get to bed at a decent time) and headed to ballet. She and John dropped Lyn off and went into town. First, we stopped at a bookstore to read a book (since John needed to read one for his homework and forgot to bring it with him!). Then we went to pick up some dinner.

We tried a new place called Zorkafor's SandVeg in Old Town. It was so yummy, Margie wrote and article about it for her friend who runs DCFud.com. Click here to read the article.

Dan met us at the theatre for dinner and then took the kids to their next activity, while Margie stayed for a board meeting, followed by a late night working on the theatre newsletter.

Lyn's next stop was Activity Day. Sponsored by the church, this program for girls 8-11 is kind of like scouts, and is an opportunity for her to earn awards by participating in a variety of spiritual, physical, social, and challenging activities. This week, she had an opportunity to meet a secret (senior citizen) sister that she has been corresponding with for the last couple weeks. She gave her sister some banana bread, a candy box (that she made herself and filled with candy), and a puzzle (that she also made herself).

As Lyn says, "Wednesday is a looooong day!"

Thursday was John's chess club. He played three games and lost all of them. But not to worry, his opponents were all ranked much higher than him--one of them was even an eagle (the highest rank at the school). John only has one chess club night left this year--he will be sad when it's over...he has really enjoyed the experience!

While John and Dan were at chess club, Lyn and Margie were at the church celebrating the Relief Society's 167th birthday. We were treated to dinner, birthday cake and a "visit" from past presidents, including Emma Smith (1842-1844), Eliza R. Snow (1866-1887), Zina D.H. Young (1888-1901), and Belle Spafford (1945-1974).

On Saturday, Margie got up early to start spring training for the Dream For the Stars bike ride--but it was too cold! She is blogging about her training on another website.

Next she headed to the theatre for rehearsal, followed by a trip the church to run the scoreboard for the final game of the church league basketball tournament (her own team was rated last in the league, but we had a lot of fun! :o).

Saturday night we had fun watching the movie Dodgeball as a family.

Sunday (today) has also been busy. Dan left early for a race. It was the first of the season, and the first event in a new venue--Southern Maryland Blue Crab Stadium. It's a different club than he usually drives in--Autocrossers Incorporated. He had fun and finished first in his class (OK, he was the only one in his class...). Still, he had fun, and is looking forward to more races this season.

Margie, Lyn and John went to church early for choir practice (Lyn's now singing in the choir!). John was chosen to recite the fourth article of faith in Primary today: "We believe that the first principles and ordinances of the gospel are, first, faith in the Lord, Jesus Christ, second, repentance, third, baptism by immersion for the remission of sins, fourth, the laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost." He did a great job!

After church, we headed to the theatre (again!) for lunch and Margie's rehearsal. The kids love it there--that's pretty much the only time they get to play on the computer!

We came home, took a nap, ate dinner, and that pretty much leads up to where we are right now.

Have a great week!
